Numbers of people who have received cochlear implants in the UK
At the end of each financial year (April to March), the Institute has surveyed the hospitals which provide cochlear implantation in the United Kingdom to obtain information about their level of activity in the year just ending and their anticipated level in the financial year about to start. The four plots summarise the results of the most recent of these surveys which was completed in April 2004.

Plot 1 shows the numbers of people who were 18 years or older when they received their implants. The heights of the grey bars show the number who received implants in each financial year. The open circles connected by lines show the cumulative total. Entries for the financial year 2005 represent the projected level of activity.
