3rd October 2008 - IMAP Study: A page has been added listing the titles and abstracts of projects being undertaken by IMAP field test collaborators.

1st August 2008 - IMAP Study: final test numbers released

16th July 2008 - Final day of testing!

28th February 2008 - the 1000th child has been tested!

1st November 2007 - details of the IMAP Field Test collaboration are now available

2nd August 2007 - IMAP Study: 38 attendees from the 25 collaborating IMAP field test sites attended IMAP test package training days on 26th July and 1st August and received the IMAP software

6th June - IMAP Study: first 50 children tested

21st May - Data collection starts for IMAP population study

8th May 2007 - Research Assistants begin work on the study

Four research assistants have started work on the study. Leanne Mattu is working in the Glasgow area, Karen Baker is based in Cardiff, Anna Phillips will be working in Nottingham, and Nicola Bergin will be based in Exeter. They will be conducting testing at schools in the area, and collaborating with local audiology departments.

30th April 2007 - Test battery for the IHR multi-centre auditory processing (IMAP) study finalised

The test battery now being used in schools at the four sites in the multi-centre population study (Nottingham, Exeter, Glasgow and Cardiff) comprises the following tests:

  • Auditory processing — backward masking, simultaneous masking, frequency discrimination
  • Cognitive function — non-verbal reasoning, reading efficiency, short-term memory, repetition of nonsense words
  • Speech intelligibility — nonsense words in noise
  • Attention — auditory and visual attention

The majority of the tests are computer driven (via a laptop) and presented as "fun to do", child-friendly games.

12th March - 24 audiology sites across the UK to trial the IHR AP package

8th January 2007 - Project Manager starts work on the study

The Project Manager for the APD multi-centre study, Sonia Ratib, has started work on the study.

15th December 2006 - IHR receives a huge response for trialing the AP test package

There was a huge response to our invitation of interest in trialling the auditory processing test package. 59 audiology services have so far responded expressing an interest, and have been sent a questionnaire to establish their interests and work in this area.
