Dear Visitor,
For many people with hearing impairment, understanding a speaker in a noisy environment such as a restaurant or a pub can be a daunting and difficult task. We at the MRC Institute of Hearing Research would like to invite you to take part in a study about how the brain deals with noise and reverberation. The information from the study will help us improve hearing devices in the future.
The study will consist of several experiments in which you will listen to a variety of sounds in a special sound studio or directly through your implant. You will be asked to judge the sounds. For example, you may be asked where a sound came from or if a sound had a high or a low pitch.
If you are a cochlear implant user and interested in taking part please read this information sheet. It will inform you in-depth about this important study. Your taking part is voluntary and you are free to withdraw from the study at any point without giving a reason and without consequences for the health-care service that you receive.
We hope you will be able to help us with this important study which has the potential to improve the life for people with a hearing impairment. If you would like to help us with this study or would like further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank you very much for your interest!
