Postgraduate Study at IHR

The Institute of Hearing Research (IHR) is a world-leading centre for research into hearing and hearing disorders. Auditory science is an exciting and highly interdisciplinary field, which is often overlooked in undergraduate teaching. A PhD in auditory science not only provides specialist training in a wide variety of technical and methodological skills, such as neurophysiology, neuroimaging and computational methods, but it also opens the door to a wide range of career opportunities.

IHR provides one of the most comprehensive and supportive structures for PhD training. On this website, you can a flavour of what it is like to be one of our postgraduate students. By following the links, you will find some general information about us, our postgraduate research programme, plus details of our PhD projects for 2012.

If you would like to know more about us, then please contact Dr Katrin Krumbholz or the supervisor of your chosen project. We also welcome informal visits, so that you can see our facilities and talk with our staff and students.

You can view 'a day in the life' of PhD student Heather Gilbert here.

We look forward to welcoming you to IHR.
